Dandelion Mocha recipe is from Rosemary Gladstar's Medicinal Herbs. It is a warming comfort beverage that has the benefits of liver cleansing dandelion root. Also a great substitute for coffee.

Roasted Dandelion Root

  1. Finely chop fresh root into equal portions and spread evenly on a cookie sheet or baking stone.

  2. Bake for 30-40 minutes at 350.

  3. The roots should turn from cream to brown and have a roasted but not burnt aroma.

  4. Let cool

  5. Grind in a coffee grinder or blender to a powder.

Dandelion Mocha

3 Tbsp roasted dandelion root (can also use chicory root or half of each - which is my preference)

1 Tbsp cocoa nibs (I use Crio Bru)

½ cup milk

1 Tbsp maple syrup or honey

½ tsp cinnamon powder

½ tsp vanilla extract

Dash of nutmeg or clove powder

Directions

  1. Add dandelion and cocoa nibs to 3 cups water and simmer for 30 minutes.

  2. Strain

  3. Add remaining ingredients to the tea

  4. Stir well and enjoy!
