This salve includes a variety of properties for healing burns; tissue repair and rebuilding, pain relief, inflammation and skin conditioning. It is also very effective for diaper rash, cradle cap and skin conditions on baby. I change the label to Baby Balm and gift it to new arrivals of family and friends. They usually ask for a refill!

This herbal blend can also be used to make a tea and take internally, a bath, steam, compress, oil, cream, or poultice.

Ingredients

2 parts comfrey

1 part calendula

1 part lavender

1 part chamomile

Directions

  1. Mix the dried herbs together to create the herbal burn blend, then make into an herbal oil.

  2. Pour the herbal infused oil into a pan.

  3. Add an ounce of beeswax per cup of oil and melt over very low heat.

  4. Remove from heat and cool for a minute or two then add 1 tsp of oil lavender essential oil.

  5. Pour into containers until cooled and solid, then cover and store in a cool, dry location.

Application

Apply to any type of burn, especially good for healing deeper burns such as friction burns and second degree burns. Also works great for cuts and wounds. Reapply as the salve absorbs into the skin which could be several times a day and then always before bed and upon waking.
